Still Alive

This was a triumph.
I'm making a note here: huge success.
It's hard to overstate my satisfaction.

just kidding... yes, i am in fact still alive, just been too busy lately for much web stuff (other than my job, which has somehow managed to reap my soul) -- damnit. well i hope to get some TF2'ing in as these new packs have been relelased... so perhaps some gaming is on the horizon!

I don't mean to sound like a cunt, but...

This place seems to be getting more like deviantart every day. I mean, maybe it's just because most of the crowd here is from deviantart, but I was hoping this place would be different. No drama, no attention whores, no flocking over to every single girls page and leaving comments just because they happen to be female. I don't want this to be the gaming version of deviantart, really, I don't. At least it's not flooded with anime... yet.

Maybe I'm just blowing out my ass, but I think it's in napalm riot's best interest to separate itself as far as possible from deviantart. You have to look at what this place has that deviantart doesn't. It's focused on games, yes, but when I look at my user page and settings, it's basically a deviantart clone with some extra features for game stuff. I realize a large part of this is due to most of the users here having a lot of experience with deviantart and wanting it's features to exist here as well, but this is not deviantart.

Now, I am aware that this is a gaming COMMUNITY, meaning there is some overlap, since deviantart is an art COMMUNITY. So I can see the implementation of things like blogs (journals), friend lists and the note system, but do we really need photo galleries? I mean, what's the point? It has no relation to gaming, with the exception of uploading things like game models or textures, or something of that sort. What would be more useful would be something like the ability to run flash or java games within the page, or being able to download game levels (maps), you know, something tailored a little more to gaming.

I don't really know where this is going, but I feel like it needed to be said by someone. I also want to let the development team know that it is absolutely nothing against them, and whatever direction they take this site in is entirely prerogative. This is just my opinion.
